"Tent Waltz" - Toni Collette |

public because I'm curious as to what other people think of this movie. or book. supposing anyone comes across this who's read/seen it. LITTLE CHILDREN. talking about the ending, too. so. don't read my rambling if you want to read/see it. and want the ending to be a surprise.
okay, so. mainly. I think the movie would have been MUCH better without the narrator. I think that was just totally unnecessary. it felt like it was in the way of what the actors were obviously capable of portraying, and they couldn't really, if there were snippets of the book being told over what they were doing. which I guess helps you to understand if you haven't read the book, but. I didn't like that. it could have been a silent movie and still worked.
but I do think the actors were perfect for the characters they played. I already love Kate Winslet, and I don't think anyone could've been a better Sara. biased. yes. but I think she was amazing. could've been even more amazing if there wasn't a narrator doing the acting for her. but I think she was perfect for that role. as was Patrick Wilson for his role, but, again. could've been better without the narrator. I don't know why the changed his name from Todd to Brad, either. that was kinda weird. but I really liked him, too. and the woman who played his wife. and the kids were cute, and just like I imagined them. all the characters were like I imagined them. I just wish the movie forced you to rely on them and their actions, and not the narrator.
and I guess the only other thing that bugged me was the uh. lzozlzoz. explicitness of some scenes? or just one scene, actually. but that can be justified too, I guess, because there was so much tension leading up to it, and then it being so strong, you kind've couldn't help but get the point. but like for me, personally, I like when those kind of scenes end and start with passion that isn't explicit. and then it fades to black or something. this was kind of like. passion. cut. WHOA. you know. but it was okay. I love the quote that goes with that scene, and it was in there, so that was good. and there were some really beautiful scenes. like ones that made me appreciate the fact that they made a movie, because maybe words couldn't convey it. which isn't really true. I loved the book. I love the movie. so they both work, but. some parts of the movie were better than others. and there are some scenes that stand out and should have been the norm for the rest of the scenes, I think. lzozlz actually I think it would've made a great silent film. with the same actors. :| the ending was kind of weird in the movie. the basic concept was the same, there were just some details I don't think really fit. not after reading the book.
I don't really know why it has a such a profound effect on me, anyway. I just love the story. it makes me think. and some people have reviewed it and said it was disgusting, which I don't understand unless you're only focusing on certain elements of it, but it's really a good story. to me. I love the characters a lot. especially when played by people like Kate Winslet and Paddy Whack. lzozlz, lover. >:| anyway. but I liked both versions, the book and the movie. I like the book better, though.
and I'm hoping we don't have a test in history tomorrow.
